Group caricatures for SembCorp Gas, Singapore
October 8, 2006
This takes me about 3- 4 working days to complete and working on another pitching job for a shopping mall concurrently, which explain why you don’t see me blogging for these few days. This is a farewell gift for the staff from SembCorp Gas to their boss who’s leaving this department to another one (see the structures in the distant background). They want this boss to be portrayed as a Superman (a favourite theme among my clients – I will show you a couple more similar in a few days’ time). He’s quite fat, and they want to show him to have a great influence. They also want to incorporate the 3 pipes in their plant in Jurong Island, Singapore. Hence, I proposed to them to have the other staff that needs to be closer to him, to slide towards him (to show his influence) when he starts to take off. He likes to eat. Thus, I have a drumstick and bacon at his waist. The LV wallet and bag are gifts from the staff previously. Hobbies and themes like badminton, sleeping, goalkeeper, shopping, singing, beer-drinking, basketball, baby, car etc are given by the client. As there are 20 faces in there, I had quite a hard time (fun and satisfaction, of course) in composing this caricature artwork. I try to cut down on the sea area. I have too much of it in previous caricatures.
This event was held yesterday, at one-north Park, Biopolis – field next to Chromos Biulding, Buona Vista, Singapore.
My sketching service starts from 11am and ends at 12pm.
World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is a unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world. Now in its second year, World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 2006 takes place on October 7th 2006.
The theme for World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 2006 is Access to care for all – highlighting the fact that everyone has a right to high quality end of life care but that more needs to be done to enable everyone to access it.
The day is for anyone and everyone who cares about or is involved in hospice and palliative care anywhere in the world. If you are an organisation or an individual, with or without experience of hospice and palliative care, you can do something to support hospice and palliative care worldwide.
I will post up some photos later.
Really cool caricatures!!!
October 5, 2006
I happened to see these really cool and fine caricatures artworks online yesterday.
Post up to share with you all.
Are my clients ready to accept this styles?
I am still crossing my fingers…..(see previous post)
They may think they look cute and fun, only other people, but not for themselves.
Most of the lady clients told me that they want to look good – no double chins, no eyebags, no moles etc, no long jaws, bigger eyes (even though their eyes aren’t big).
I like these exaggerated styles and I admit it’s not easy to do it.
It works easily on caucasian, as they usually have unique and sharp features; it is more difficult for asian faces especially – most Asian features are less prominet and/or unique, some features are plain (and flat) – no offence!

The above caricatures by Sebastian Kruger.

Caricature theme – London Cafe
October 3, 2006

This client is my ‘old’ customer who used to be drawn by me when I was drawing in Clarke Quay, Singapore.
She told me that that was about 4 years ago.
I asked her how did she manage to find my gallery in China Square?
She said that she remembered that I sign ‘Portrait Workshop’ on my previous caricature done for her. Hence, she went online to search for “portrait workshop’. I am so touched…..
She ordered this caricature artwork for her husband for their first year wedding anniversary.
london cafe is where they first met each other. he likes cooking, and she likes ‘Teh Tarik’.
Illustration of court scenes
October 3, 2006
These illustrations were done in March 2006. The client is August Consultancy, a PR company. I think the case is between a bank and a company. I can’t remeber it already. Hahaha… Bad memory……. They asked to do a few live sketches at a court scenes. It was quite a fresh experience, as this is the first time I do it. I see such sketches on newspaper often, but never thought of doing such sketches.

The pencil sketches are done live on site, i.e. the court.
The colour was added in later in Photoshop, as the client wanted a colour version to put on magazines.
Illustrations on Gym Workouts
October 3, 2006
This set of illustrations is from the same client from the previous post.
He needs to use these drawings for use in his gym equipments magazine.
I did the outlines in pencil, and colour in using Photoshop with my graphic tablets.

Caricature theme – One People, One Nation, One Singapore
October 3, 2006

The same client from previous post.
This caricature was used for the election campaign.
I have no idea where he was going to put it, as that was only what he told me.
Illustration of lift upgrading, Potong Pasir, Singapore
October 3, 2006

This illustration was done in April this year.
It was used in a brochure for an election campaign in Singapore, telling the residents of the advantages of lift-landing on every levels of the flat.
I like the cleaniness and simplicity of thisillustration style. It is an continuation of the style used in the residential estate for Keppel Corp mentioned earlier.
Couple caricatures in Chinese traditional wedding suit.
October 3, 2006

Just finished this caricature last night.
As mentioned earlier in my blog, this theme in which the couple wants incorporate their Chinese Zodiac Signs in the caricatures, is getting popular again (Noticed the rabbit ears, tail and the monkey hands and tail?). Is the Chinese traditional wedding suit theme also getting popular too? I have just done one few weeks ago.
Illustration for Keppel Corporation Annual Report 2005.
October 3, 2006
This illustration was done in March 2006, for Kepperl Corporation Annual Report 2005, for its page divider.
The concept of this illustration is to have a residential estate of Singapore in the foreground, while the landmarks of countries like Shanghai (china), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Bangkok (Thailand), India, Philipines, and Vietnam, in the background. Keppel Corp. is going to use the residential mini-town all-in-one concept used in Singapore, and apply it into these contries.
This illustration is not on my website yet. I am putting up this to show a potential client who needs to illustrate different landmarks of certain countries for his website. This is a sample of the style I have done.

The initial sketch of the concept.

Colour scheme of the sketch.

Actual sketch lineworks (The client request a more sketchy lineart for the background, as everything is not concrete so far.

Inverse the lines in Photoshop.

The finished illustrations. The infrastructures in the foreground are clean and straight, in terms of illustration style. It is in vector format. I used a neon effect for the landmarks in the background, to make them more subtle and also to differentiate them from the background. The sky is a photograph pasted in.

Caricature live sketching at my gallery
October 2, 2006
Just done a live sketching of a caricature for a lady – Grace at my gallery just now. She made a booking 2 weeks ago. She’s here to collect the other caricature she has ordered a fortnight ago.
In fact, I did make a snapshot of her with the caricature. However, the stupid camera didn’t manage to save the file in the Memory Stick. It keeps giving me ‘file error message. I only manage to get the caricature file saved.
